The final games of the competition are usually held right before the announcement of the field for the NCAA tournament. The tournaments usually occur at neutral venues, not belonging to some particular college. The first competitons took place at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Starting from 2002, the tournament had been held either in the United Center or in the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
