Duke tradition includes heavy winning percentages for all its sports teams. Most notable of its many NCAA sport teams are its football and basketball teams, which have become huge powerhouses within the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Blue Devils football team is quick, agile, powerful and exciting. The Duke Blue Devils basketball team is a methodic, well-trained, incredibly talented winning machine. Their incredible tradition of winning can be traced back to 1938, when Wallace Wade coached the Blue Devils into a flawless season that not only saw them win every game, but let up absolutely no points during the regular season. Since then, Duke has built themselves into one of the most formidable NCAA football teams in the nation, with layers and layers of great success. Duke's basketball team really needs little argument to persuade you of their greatness. Their stats and history alone can do all the talking. They've won the National Championship 3 times (1991, 1992, 2001), the ACC Tournament Title 20 times, and have been in the NCAA Tournament about as many times as centipedes have legs. Duke became a prominent basketball program early on and never pulled its foot off the pedal. Every year the Duke Blue Devils are nationally ranked and talked about as being the potential National Champions. This upcoming season should be no different.
