Florida's Double Threat

The Florida Gators are one of those double-threat schools. They can beat you indoors and outdoors. Whether it's their BCS Championship caliber football teams or their NCAA Championship caliber basketball program, Florida is a school that bases its tradition in winning? and winning big. One has to look no further than a few years back when Florida's basketball team won the 2006 NCAA Tournament in the spring, their football team won the BCS National Championship in 2007, and then the basketball team won the title again in the spring of 2007. Florida Football has a history of Bowl game victories, conference titles, and producing Heisman trophy winners and top-quality NFL talent. In the past two decades, Florida has risen to the top of the Southeastern Conference and left opponents in its wake. They have claimed 6 SEC Titles in 8 appearances and won a total of 2 National Championships. Its football program cannot simply be measured by those numbers, however. Many Gators continue to play football in the NFL with notable players being Emmitt Smith, Fred Taylor, and Jevon Kearse. Florida's football success runs deep, even into the NFL. That doesn't take away anything from the basketball team, though. The excitement that the football team brings can only be matched by the excitement that the Florida Gators basketball team also brings. Much like the football team, Gators basketball has really risen to prominence since the early 1990s and has been a perpetual threat to the NCAA Championship every year in the 2000s. The Gators basketball team was the first team to win back-to-back NCAA Championships (2006, 2007) since the Duke Blue Devils (1991, 1992). However, that won't satiate them. The Gators will be back and will want to get another NCAA title.
