Arizona Wildcats NCAA Information

Founded in 1885, the University of Arizona is situated in Tucson, Arizona State. It was the first university in Arizona and currently has about 37.000 students. Like in many other large American universities, much attention is devoted to sports. The university sports teams are called the Arizona Wildcats. This name dates back to 1914, when a captivating football match took place. The team appeared to be very strong in comparison with the rivals, and according to the Los Angeles Times "the Arizona men showed the fight of wildcats." The Wildcats are the participants of the NCAA's (the National Collegiate Athletics Association) Division I-A in the Pacific Ten Conference. They are training in baseball, men's and women's basketball, men's & women's cross country, football, men's and women's golf, gymnastics, women's soccer, softball, men's and women's swimming/diving, men's & women's tennis, and other sports.
