Arkansas Razorbacks Basketball News | ||
Razorbacks History, PresentThe Arkansas Razorbacks men’s basketball team history runs deep. As a program that was created in 1924, the Razorbacks have consistently been a powerhouse force in the Southeastern Conference of the NCAA. In fact, in their over 80-year basketball program career, they have sparingly posted a season record that was not at or above .500. In the first four years of their incipience into the NCAA, they stamped the Razorbacks tradition into the history books, posting a 113-17 record, and if there was a National Tournament at that time, they certainly would have taken at least one. As it stands to this day, the Razorbacks have made tens of appearances in the Final Four Tournament, achieving every level of success within the tournament when they beat Duke the Final in 1994. In 1995, they returned to the Final but failed to defend their throne. Flash forward to this year. Coming off of a dominant season then disappointing second-round tournament loss to the Tar Heels, the Razorbacks return with high high hopes. However, before the season even begins, the Razorbacks face an unfortunate loss of junior guard Patrick Beverley. Due to undisclosed reasons, of a school/student privacy nature, he will not be returning to the Razorback squad for the 2008-2009 season. Coach John Pelphrey and his talented assistant coaching staff will return though, with quite a fire in their bellies. With only a few juniors and single senior returning to the squad as veterans, the Razorbacks will have the advantage of youth, but the disadvantage of inexperience. Go to Vividseats.com and order your Razorbacks tickets today for the Walter Bud Arena, and support the Backs against rivals Texas and LSU. |
