Boston College Eagles Background Information

The Boston College Eagles are the sports teams, which represent Boston College. They are the participants of the NCAA (the National Collegiate Athletics Association) Division I A.

The Boston College mascot is Baldwin the Eagle. This name in made up of the words bald eagle and the verb to win. The major college colors are gold and maroon. In 1885 T.J. Hurrie composed the teams fight song For Boston.

The Boston College basketball team began playing in 1904, though they lost their first game to the Battery H of Navy. Lately, the same year, they won over the Tuffs (23-17) in Medford. Its not a secret that at the beginning of the 20th century basketball was not at all popular, and thats why the players could not boast of much support of their fans. Twice the team was dropped before the 1940s.
