The California Golden Bears basketball team started playing professionally in 1907. In 1915 it first appeared in the Conference game. The team was very successful during the 1920s, and the games they played in those years are considered to be the best games for California basketball. They were awarded with six conference titles. The womens basketball team played the first game in 1973-1974 season. The team won during eleven seasons, and twice became the conference winner. In 90s they lowered the pace winning only thrice, but nevertheless they were not going to give up. The last, 2005-2006 season, was another one winning season for the lady Bears.
