Named after the school's Hall of Fame coach who spent more than 30 years at the helm of one of the most formidable college basketball programs in the nation, the Dean Smith Center has hosted the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball program since the arena opened in 1986. Boasting multiple national and ACC championships since the venue's opening, the Tar Heels will aim to add another banner to the rafters this season. Follow the team on the journey leading up to March Madness when UNC faces Duke Blue Devils Mens Basketball on March 7.
Dean Smith Center Seating Information
The Smith Center contains both lower and upper levels, which are designated by the numbers 100 and 200, respectively. On the 100 level, Sections 107-110 and 124-127 are on the sidelines, while 102-106, 111-115, 119-123, and 128-132 make up the corners. Sections 100-101, 116-118, and 133 are all behind the basket.
In the upper level, Sections 206-211 and 223-228 are on the sidelines, while corner sections include 202A-205A, 211A-214A, 219A-222A, and 228A-231A. Finally, the behind-the-basket sections in the upper level include 200-202, 215-219, and 232-233.
Note: The baseline near the Tar Heels bench is the reserved, standing room only student section.
Dean Smith Center General Information
Small personal cameras are permitted without flash, but no professional cameras or audio-video recording devices are permitted during UNC basketball games. No alcohol is allowed inside the venue and guests are prohibited from bringing outside food or drink into the Smith Center.
Dean Smith Center Parking Information
Traffic surrounding the Dean Smith Center is known to become congested on game day so guests are advised to arrive early. Lots on site are reserved for fans with permit parking passes for the current season, so those in need of general parking options should utilize designated parking decks and lots available on campus. These typically include the Bell Tower Deck, Jackson Deck, Cardinal Deck, Navy Field Lot, and Boshamer Lots. A fee will accompany all parking. There is typically ample signage posted around campus to help direct visitors on the day of the game.

For UNC vs Duke, doors will likely open one hour to 90 minutes before tipoff.
Dean Smith Center Accessibility
Accessible seating can be purchased for the wheelchair platform in Sections 101 and 133. Ushers will be available at each section for additional assistance or to help with answering any questions. The box office can also make accommodations for guests with any sight or hearing impairments. Accessible parking can be found at the Rams Head parking structure on a first-come, first-served basis for a fee. There is also usually a free shuttle service to the arena from this parking area. Inside the Dean Smith Center, there are accessible entrance ramps, elevators, restrooms, ATMS, concession stands, and drinking fountains.
