The Texas A&M Aggies represent the Texas A&M University (usually shortened to the Texas A&M, the A&M, or the TAMU). The University was established in 1871, and became the first public college in Texas. The Texas A&M Aggies were the participants of the Southwest Conference. The main rivals of the Texas A&M Aggies are the Texas Longhorns (from the University of Texas). Since 2004 their rivalry is known as the Lone Star Showdown.
