The Virginia Cavaliers are NCAA Division I college basketball programs. They are current members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. First, the home court of the Virginia Cavaliers was University Hall, however in 2006 it was closed once and for all. In the fall of 2006 the brand new John Paul Jones Arena opened. And it became the arena for the team the same year. John Paul Jones Arena is situated at the University of Virginia that is in Charlottesville, Virginia State. It is built for about 15,000 spectators, and is larger than 8,457 seats at the previous facility of the Virginia. The style of the building is called Jeffersonian architecture, and reminds of the majority of buildings designed by Thomas Jefferson.
As far as the current season of the Virginia Cavaliers is concerned, the basketball team 2006 will have high expectations to get the NCAA Tournament bid, the one that they failed to obtain on the past few years. The coaching staff, including assistant coaches Bill Courtney, Rob Lanier, Steve Seymour, director of Basketball Operations Drew Diener, Strength/Conditioning Shaun Brown and head Coach Dave Leitao, has managed to help the team to win their fame.
