Background Information

The BCS National Championship Game or as it is also called BCS title game is the final in the series of the Bowl Championship Series taking place every year. On the initial stage, this bowl game was played at the conclusion of the 1998 College Football season after the Pac 10, the Big Ten conferences and the Rose Bowl Game united to form the Bowl Championship Series. Being played within other sporting events for a long time, in 2006 season, the National Championship Game finally became a separate event. The game’s location is always different with the interval of 4 years: for example, in 2007, 2011, 2015 seasons the game will be held at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ; in 2008, 2012 and 2016 – at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. Other venues include Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens and the Rose Bowl is Pasadena.

In the 2007 season, the BCS National Championship Game will be played at the Louisiana Superdome, New Orleans, on January, 2008. It is amazing that the title sponsor of the BCS National Championship Game will be the same as that of the bowl game in that year's host location. Thus, the 2008 game will bear the Allstate brand.

Arizona State and Oregon are among the teams that are placed in the BCS top five after starting the season unranked. Both of them have won the fame of contenders for the Pac-10 championship and the National Championship with big wins over normal conference contenders, which are USC and Cal. The game’s winner is supposed to win the conference and a guaranteed BCS bowl bid. In contrast with Arizona State, Oregon has showed outstanding results this season.
