The Illinois Fighting Illini has been part of the Big Ten Conference since their origin. In 1999 the Illini had one of their best seasons. In 1999 the Illini ended with an 8-4 record and ranked 17th out of 117 teams. The Illini 2000 season wasn’t as good as their previous one, finishing with a 5-6 record. The teams' 2001 season has been their best season yet. Winning ten of 12 games, the team ranked 14th out of 117 teams. After their 2001 season, the Illini went downhill. In 2002 the team ended with a 5-7 season. In 2003, the team's success dropped greatly.

In 2003, the Illini lost 11 out of 12 games, proving the 2003 season to be their worst. The team ranked 100th out of 118. In 2004, the team finished with a 3-8 record. In both 2005 and 2006, the Fighting Illini won only two games. Finally in 2007, the Illini made a turn around, ending with a 9-4 record and a ranking of 22nd out of 122 teams. For the 2008, the Illini’s head Coach Ron Zook hopes to continue the success in the 2007 season. Come cheer on the Fighting Illini!
