The Insight Bowl is an NCAA-sanctioned Division I–A-post-season American college football bowl game played in Arizona since 1989 with regular match ups between Big Ten and Big Twelve Conferences. From 1989 to 1999, the games were played at Arizona Stadium in Tucson, but since 2000 the game venue moved to Chase Field in Phoenix. In 2006, the game changed its venue again and moved to Arizona State University’s beautiful Sun Devil Stadium, which has has hosted a Super Bowl, several NCAA National Championship games and has been the home of the Fiesta Bowl for 25 years. The stadium is located in Tempe, Arizona.
Formerly known as Copper Bowl, the Bowl gained its new name of the Insight Bowl in 1997, when the game changed its sponsor for Insight Enterprises. The Insight Bowl used to feature teams from the WAC, the Big East, Pac 10, and the Big 12. However, in 2006, the Bowl began featuring the teams from the Big Ten and the Big 12 on an annual basis.
The 2006 season saw the greatest comeback in the history of the NCAA Division-I-A, when Texas Tech played with Minnesota and came back from a 38-7 third-quarter deficit to beat Minnesota 44-41 in overtime.
The Insight Bowl is ready to kick off another great bowl game in Sun Devil Stadium in 2007. Make sure to purchase your Insight Bowl tickets in advance. The 2007 season match will take place in Tempe, AZ, on December, 31.
