In 1999, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs had their highest team rank and best season record. With an 8-3 record and a rank of 30th out of 117 teams, the Bulldogs have not yet been able to reach this record or rank since 1999. In 2000, the Bulldogs suffered a horrible 3-9 ranking, with decreased rank of 106th out of 116 teams. Still as an Independent Conference, the Bulldogs improved their season record in 2001. With a 7-5 record and a rank of 61st out of 117 teams, this is the closest the Bulldogs have come to their top rank and season in 1999 as an Independent team.

In 2003, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs joined the WAC Conference. The team ended this season with a 5-7 record. From 2003 to 2007, the Bulldogs have won no more than 7 games in a season and have been ranked no higher than 41st, which took place in 2004. In 2007 the Bulldogs finished their season with a 5-7 record. Head coach Derek Dooley and team hope to improve or meet this record.
