2009 Maryland Terrapins Season Information

In 2001 there was a changing of the guard in Maryland, it is when “The Fridge” Ralph Fridgen was brought in as the head coach of the Terrapins. They had not made an appearance at a bowl game, or had a winning season since 1990. They had not won a bowl game in 16 years. They wanted to see a change, and in the 2001 season they saw just that. The new head coach had picked up a team that was lead to several near victories by his predecessor, Ron Vanderlinden, and was hungry for their day in the sun.

Fridgen did indeed lead his team into the national light once more, but the start did not come off as naturally in the years to follow. There was a minor resurgence in 2006, but it was only somewhat notable, and in 2007 they backslid again, though Erin Henderson felt that he was ready for the NFL draft for 2008 after the past 2007 season. Fridgen decided that he will no longer be making the play calls himself and he would be bringing back former wide receivers coach Jim Franklin for the offense coordinator. See if the Maryland Terrapins can shape it up and make their mark in the 2008 and 2009 season yourself. Check out the Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium seating chart at vividseats.com.
