2012 Terps Set for Turnaround With New Coordinators

After a disappointing 2011 season, the Terrapins are poised for a strong rebound with the hiring of new offensive and defensive coordinators, Mike Locksley and Brian Stewart, respectively. Locksley comes on as after previously serving as running backs coach and recruiting coordinator, with a strong reputation as an elite recruiter, and Stewart spent the past two seasons as defensive coordinator at the University of Houston, where his team ranked in the top 15 nationally in five statistical categories this past season. The hires have Terps fans around the country excited for a rebirth of the program, so get your 2012 Maryland Terrapins tickets now and see this excited transformation live.

The 41-year-old Locksley was a Maryland assistant from 1997 to 2002, and replaces Gary Crowton, who served as OC for only one season. Stewart, 47, had an eight-year stint as an NFL assistant, including two as the defensive coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys. The Terrapins expect Locksley to produce immediate recruiting results due to his excellent and long-standing relationships with prospects and high school coaches throughout the region, and with both him and Stewart pushing the players to their potential in new schemes, this year is sure to be exciting.
