2009 Maryland Terrapins Season InformationIn 2001 there was a changing of the guard in Maryland, it is when “The Fridge” Ralph Fridgen was brought in as the head coach of the Terrapins. They had not made an appearance at a bowl game, or had a winning season since 1990. They had not won a bowl game in 16 years. They wanted to see a change, and in the 2001 season they saw just that. The new head coach had picked up a team that was lead to several near victories by his predecessor, Ron Vanderlinden, and was hungry for their day in the sun.
