The Minnesota Golden Gophers are one of the ten teams in the Big Ten Conference. In 1999, the Golden Gophers had their second best record season, finishing with an 8-4 record. The Gophers ranked 33rd out of 114 teams. In 2000, the team had an even season record, winning six games and losing six. In 2001, the Gophers had a disappointing season, finishing with a 4-7 record. The 2002 season was full of improvement. The Gophers won eight games and only lost five.
The 2002 season set a goal for the upcoming 2003, and that goal was met. In 2003, the Golden Gophers finished their season with a 10-3 record. The teams' rank was 25th out of 118 teams, the highest they have been in 10 years. Unfortunately, 2003 seemed to be the highlight of the Golden Gophers seasons. In 2004 and 2005, the Gophers won seven games and lost five. In 2006, the team won only six games and lost seven. The 2007 season proved to be even more unfortunate. The Gophers won only one game and lost 11, leaving them with a ranking of 112th out of 122. Tim Brewster, the Minnesota Golden Gophers head Coach, hopes that he can lead his team to a much more successful season than last year.
