The Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl is post-season college bowl game featuring the Southeastern and Atlantic Coast Conferences and held on an annual basis. Every year, the Bowl is viewed live by more than 462,000 fans and 41 million viewers on ESPN.
Since, the Gaylords Hotels Music City Bowl has had the cumulative financial impact of about $115 million within the first nine years of its operation, the game has transformed the week before the Christmas and New Year Eve into one of the city's busiest times for tourism. The LP Field stadium in Nashville, Tennesse, has become a traditional arena of the Gaylords Hotels Music City Bowl annual match-ups.
As with the case of any other Bowl games, the sponsor of the game has changed many times throughout its history. The present sponsors of the game are Bridgestone and Gaylord Hotels, which gave the Bowl its current name – the Gaylords Hotels Music City Bowl. Previous sponsors of the bowl game have included American General Life & Accident in the inaugural 1998 game, and the now-defunct "homepoint.com" in the 1999 game. In 2000 – 2001the Bowl had no sponsor at all.
The 2006 season Bowl was played on December 29, 2006 between Kentucky and Clemson and ended up with the victory of Kentucky with the score 28:20. Last year's game between Kentucky and Clemson sold out in less than 48 hours after the teams were announced, so make sure you book your Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl tickets in advance.
The 2007 season game will be played on Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at 3 p.m.
