Mountaineers Leave Big East For Big 12

In an exciting shuffle of the deck, the West Virginia Mountaineers accepted an invitation to join the Big 12 Conference in 2012. It was a bold move considering that they won at least eight games and reached a bowl game every year in the Big East since 2002. This magnificent run includes last year’s stellar 10-win, conference championship season that ended with a blowout victory over Clemson the Orange Bowl. The departure marks the first time since 1916 that WVU will miss the Backyard Brawl match-up against their rivals at Pitt, but exciting potential new rivalries on the horizon in the Big 12 assure that it’s prime time to grab 2012 West Virginia Mountaineers tickets from Vivid Seats.

Head coach Dana Holgorsen looks to have his men on the right track in his second season with West Virginia, which will help them navigate the uncharted waters of the Big 12. The Mountaineers will play their first Big 12 game Sept. 29 at home against Baylor, and then take on powerhouses like Texas on Oct. 6th, Kansas State on Oct. 20th, TCU on Nov. 3rd, Oklahoma State on Nov. 10th, and Oklahoma on Nov. 17th. With marquee games like this, Mountaineer fans will can certainly look forward to one of the most entertaining schedules of the year, and this will be a great first test for the squad in Big 12 play.
