Update on the Cardinals for the 2007 NFL football season

The new season will start a new play period for the Arizona Cardinals as Ken Whisenhunt will spell the departed Dennis Green. The team members will probably have to adjust to the new style of playing of Whisenhunt, who will surely bring some of the powerful football skills, which have made the Steelers team quite successful in the NFL. The team does need this change as they have only twice had a winning record in the last 19 seasons.

The offensive line of the team actually has the potential to make it a winning season. Matt Leinart will have spent a year in the NFL, and should be ready to show serious results. He is a sure-handed guy who showed his talent in the rookie campaign, and he'll have a lot at his disposal. In case Leinart gets injured, Kurt Warner will be his backup, who showed he could still play last year. The Arizona Cardinals are going to run more this season, and Edgerrin James will take this load. The strong side of the offense division is at wide receiver where the team has 2 Pro Bowl guys, such as Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald. Boldin made 83 catches for 1203 yards last season, while Fitzgerald also had a decent number despite receiving injuries during most of the campaign. The receiver is not as strong; therefore, the Cardinals hope the 2 will stay fit throughout the year.

When speaking about the defense of the Cardinals, the team did not play very well last year. Whisenhunt will be performing a 3-4 at certain times and the crew on the line should be able to react accordingly. The team does have an issue at linebacker; however, Calvin Pace can be another good option. In the secondary, there are some issues at corner in a couple of Angrel Rolle and Eric Green. Both of the players need to improve their play.

Most probably, the Cardinals will not be a great hit this season again and are not expected to gain more than 7 wins.
