With sights set on making it to Super Bowl 2014, Atlanta went out and signed former Pro Bowlers, RB Steven Jackson and DE Osi Umenyiora, to help get the job done. Jackson, who’s the NFL’s active leader in rushing yards (10,135), brings his versatile attack to the ATL as replacement for the released Michael Turner, while Umenyiora brings his New York Giants Super Bowl experience over to replace the released John Abraham. Combined, Jackson and Umenyiora boast five Pro Bowl selections, and when they’re listed alongside current Falcons like QB Matt Ryan, WR Julio Jones, WR Roddy White, and TE Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta’s dream to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy looks as promising as ever.
The Falcons 2013 schedule is stacked with stellar matchups all season long, beginning in Week 1 when Atlanta will hit the road to take on the New Orleans Saints in the latest installment of this heated NFC South rivalry (Sept. 8.) Next up, Atlanta will come home to the Georgia Dome to host the St. Louis Rams in its home opener on Sept. 15, and as the year progresses, Atlanta will hit the gridiron to take on some of the league’s toughest competition. Throughout the NFL season, fans that purchase Falcons tickets can see them take on squads like the New England Patriots (Sept. 29), Seattle Seahawks (Nov. 10), Green Bay Packers (Dec. 8), Washington Redskins (Dec. 15), and a much-anticipated rematch against the San Francisco 49ers (Dec. 23). The Falcons will take their BYE week in Week 6, and the final game of the season will be a home game against the Carolina Panthers on Dec. 29.
