Fast forward to
the present day and the Jauron era is over in Chicago. Gone is the
ultra-conservative offensive attack of John Shoop, and enter the explosive
offense of Rookie head coach Lovie Smith and offensive coordinator Terry Shea.
Both minds have been greatly influenced by Dick Vermiel, which is good for the
Bears who have ranked near the bottom in pass yards and touchdowns for a decade.
Smith and Shea promise fans to open up the offense and throw the ball down
field. Dont be fooled by the loss of Marty Booker, the Bears have plenty of
talented receivers to fill the void. Receivers David Terrell, Justin Gage and
Bobby Wade, will look to stretch the field for second year quarterback Rex
Grossman. The addition of running back Thomas Jones gives the Bears a
multi-faceted threat in the backfield, similar to what Vermiel did with Marshall
Faulk in St. Louis or Priest Holmes in Kansas City.
The same Bears
Defense which ranked first in the league in turnovers and scoring in 2002 took a
nose dive last season. Lovie Smiths defense in St. Louis was one of the best at
creating turnovers last season. His Cover 2 scheme blitzes the quarterback while
dropping defensive backs into zone coverage, confusing all but the best
quarterbacks. Brian Urlacher, one of the best middle linebackers in the league
just signed a record-breaking contract and has vowed to earn his bread. With
draft picks Tommie Harris and Tank Johnson clogging up the middle, the Bears may
have the same formula that kept blockers away from Urlacher allowing him to roam
freely and create havoc for defenses. The most exiting thing about 2004 for
Bears fans and ticket holders is Lovie Smiths number one goal for the Bearsto
beat the Packers!
SOLDIER
FIELD TICKETS - Chicago, Illinois
Soldier field has been a staple of
Chicago for over 80 years and home to the Chicago Bears for 40 years. In 2002
Chicago took on the daunting task of transforming a historical landmark into a
modern football facility, while retaining its historical charm and significance.
When Soldier field reopened in 2003 there was no doubting that city engineers,
planners, and architects had done a spectacular job. Sitting on Chicagos
beautiful lake front, fans will enjoy the scenic landscaping as they walk to
their seats. Soldier field sports two jumbo-trons, 133 suites and over 65,000
places for fans to sit. The angular design of the seating areas provide an incredible viewing
angle from any spot in the stadium, which also allowed for the preservation
of the exterior wall and the signature colonnades of the original
soldier field. Ticket holders should get ready for a newer, slicker and louder
stadium.
