Green Bay Packers 2007 Season Preview

During the annual draft, The Green Bay Packers did everything to select some sure-handed picks. This is already the 2nd season in a row, when the team has stocked up and rebuilt their strength with a lot of effective and talented members. They actually turned 9 picks into11 by swapping with the New York Jets and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Packers selected the most outstanding players they could, when it was their turn to pick. They chose the right people for the positions the coaching staff was building the team on.

Although the franchise did not have a lot of changes in the personnel, there will be some interesting position fights on both sides of the football. The most captivating things will happen in the backfield. The running back Ahman Green from Texans left the team, and fullback William Henderson was let go. Vernand Morency will have to fight with the second-round draft pick Brandon Jackson from Nebraska for tailback. The resigned Brandon Miree will be beating out sixth-round pick and linebacker Korey Hall from Boise State at fullback.

The wide receiver’s question is not solved yet with beginners Greg Jennings and Donald Driver. Experienced Robert Ferguson will have to suppress draft pick James Jones from San Jose State and David Clowney from Virginia Tech. One of the serious training camp issues on defense are on the interior line, where first-round draft selection Justin Harrell from Tennessee will get a possibility to make his share. In the secondary the franchise is looking for a replacement for skilled safety Marquand Manuel. The team selected the player Mason Crosby from Colorado in hopes that he could knock down Dave Rayner.
