Super Bowl 2014 Contenders Beginning to Emerge
With five weeks remaining in the 2013 NFL season, there is still plenty of football ahead, but as December approaches, serious postseason and Super Bowl contenders have begun to emerge across the league. In the AFC, the New England Patriots have maintained a relatively comfortable lead in the East, as have the Indianapolis Colts in the South and Cincinnati Bengals in the North. The AFC West, however, has produced one of the year’s most intriguing storylines thanks to the impressive turnaround for the Kansas City Chiefs, which included a 9-0 start to the season, while the Denver Broncos’ offense continues to pace all NFL teams.
Over in the NFC, the division races have been a bit tighter. As of Nov. 27, the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are tied for first at 6-5 in the East, though the Cowboys would win the tie break, which is similar to the case for the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears in the North, who also are deadlocked at 6-5, but the Lions own the tie break there if needed. In the South, the Carolina Panthers may give the New Orleans Saints a run for the money, as the squad’s seven-game win streak has started to make things interesting for the final stretch, while the Seattle Seahawks appear to have the West decided, but don’t count out the San Francisco 49ers or Arizona Cardinals just yet.
As fans are well aware, Super Bowl 2014 will be one for the ages when it takes over East Rutherford’s MetLife Stadium on Feb. 2. With it boasting the distinction of being the first such game held at a “cold-weather venue,” as well as the number of special events and attractions planned for the greater New York area, be sure to browse our Super Bowl tickets early for the best selection ahead of the historic game.
