The Florida Panthers were launched in Miami by Wayne Huizenga, a video magnate, in 1992. It appeared in the NHL in 1993 and showed its worth as a young growing team with a lot of ambitions. For a young company its first several seasons it was quite good. But the Florida Panthers failed to scrape through the playoffs .
In 1995, its coach Roger Nailson was dismissed after another loss of the team in the playoffs to quite equal rivals. Instead Doug MacLean was employed and the Florida Panthers pinned their hopes on the future games and longed to the next playoff matches.
In 1996, having defeated the Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, they hit the mark and got into the Stanley Cup final but were defeated as well by their rivals Colorado Avalanche .
During the next season the Florida Panthers started on a merry note with a brilliant 17 winning straight, but unfortunately then their play fell off and they lost the first playoff round.
The 1997-1998 season went on the run of bad luck and had a continuous line of losses. During this season another its coach Doug MacLean was given the sack and the general manager Bryan Murray took his place.
In 1999 the club purchaised a russian-hockeystar Pavel Bure, then in 2000 the Florida Panthers got into the playoffs but lost again to the New Jersy Devils , who later won the Stanley Cup.
During the next four years Pavel Bure was traded to the New York Rangers. Instead they looked forward to have a defenseman Jay Bouwmeester. Finally they got him from the Atlanta Trashers .
Now the Florida Panthers are trying to improve their playing and refresh its staff so in June they have had another acquisition from Vancouver and aquried Todd Bertuzzi, Alex Auld and Bryan Allen.
Hopefully, these changes will help the team to increase their track of record and improve their remarkable playing skills.
