New Jersey Devils Midseason Update - Feb 2007

For Martin Brodeur it is the thirteenth full season in NHL. He continues to be one of the winningest goaltenders in league history. On December 26, 2006, Martin Brodeur recorded his 85th career shutout (3-0 in the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins) and moved into 3rd place on the all-time shutout list, behind Terry Sawchuk and George Hainsworth.

During the offseason, the team made several transactions. The New Jersey Devils signed contracts with Michael Rupp from the Phoenix Coyotes, Dan LaCouture from the Boston Bruins, and Jim Dowd from the Colorado Avalanche. However, the team lost three free agents: Ken Klee, Brad Ference, and Viktor Kozlov. The Devils also hired Claude Julien, former Montreal Canadiens coach, to replace Lamoriello.
