Head out to Rice-Eccles Stadium on Thursday, August 28, 2014 for the upcoming Utah Utes vs Idaho State Bengals Football game, and check out some venue guidelines prior to attending the matchup.
Rice-Eccles Stadium Seating Information
Rice-Eccles Stadium is a completely outdoor venue that seats over 45,000 people. All seating is labeled with a direction (N, S, E, W) to make it easier for guests to find their seats. Seating starts on the south end zone labeled sections S1-S5, and continues along the Idaho State Bengals Football sideline in sections W6-W18. Indoor boxes and the press box are also located along this sideline in seating ranging from 401-408 and C1-C5 in the front row, followed by Boxes 501-517 behind that. There is also seating along the other end zone, labeled as N19-N29, which continues along the Utah sideline in sections E30-E42.
Rice-Eccles Stadium General Information
No alcohol is permitted inside Rice-Eccles Stadium, and anyone found with it in their possession will be escorted from the building. One factory-sealed bottle of water less than one liter is permitted per person, but no other beverages or food can be brought inside. Video recorders and cameras are welcome, but all material cannot be used commercially without written permission and the video and camera equipment must not obstruct the view of others. Camera and video policies are subject to change. Guests are welcome to bring in personal chair seats that are 18 inches or less, otherwise there will be some available for rental in the north and south corners of the venue. Smoking and e-cigarettes are not permitted, and guests must use the designated smoking areas at the entry gates. Once you exit the premises, you will not be allowed to re-enter unless there is an emergency or special circumstance. In addition to the items listed above, the following will be prohibited for all Utes games: cans, noisemakers, coolers, thermoses, glass, umbrellas, or weapons. All bags are subject to search upon entry.
Rice-Eccles Stadium Parking Information
Parking at Rice-Eccles Stadium varies per event, but in most cases, meters on the south and west side of the stadium will be available. Additional parking is available throughout campus in lots for various fees. If you plan on taking public transportation, the UTA Bus and TRAX light rail service will be available for access to the venue. Keep in mind that parking is tight, and some lots are located beyond walking distance to Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Bike parking is also available throughout the outside of the venue, and there is a bike valet option available on the grassy area west of the stadium.
Rice-Eccles Stadium Tailgating Information
Tailgating is permitted in the parking lots surrounding the venue. Open beer cans and bottles are permitted, but beer trucks, kegs, open bars, and any excessive amounts of alcohol will not be allowed. Those drinking must be over 21, which will be enforced by officers in the area. Keep in mind that it is against city law to have open containers on public sidewalks or roads, which law enforcement officers will be enforcing. Tailgating must end three hours following the conclusion of Utah-Idaho State.
