Boston Bean Pot Tournament is an annual men's ice hockey tournament among four hockey schools in Boston that started in 1952 and has continued ever since. This very popular event draws sellout crowds, and the hockey schools who participate are the Boston College Eagles, Harvard University Crimson, Boston University Terriers, and the Northeastern University Huskies
There are two rounds in the tournament, with the first round opponents being rotated every year. There is the consolation game played by the teams that were defeated in the first round, and the championship game is played between the two teams who had won in the first round. There are two trophies that are to be bagged at the tournament: the Eberly trophy, which is handed out to the best goal tender in the game, and the Beanpot MVP, which is given to the most valuable player in the game. The games are usually held in the month of February, and from 1996 on, TD Banknorth Garden has been the host venue.
In the first few games of the tournament, Boston College dominated by bagging eight titles in the initial 13 years. Harvard got two titles and Boston University bagged two as well.
