History of the Brumos Porsche 250

Brumos Porsche 250, also known as Daytona 250 and Paul revere 250, is one of the most exciting and awaited events in racing calendar. The race has historical significance as well because it is associated with Paul Revere, a revolutionary war legend who is famous for his midnight ride. Brumos Porche 250 is a 70-lap sports car race. Cars cover distance of around 250 miles,, during these 70 laps. The venue for this race is Daytona International Speedway, which can easily be considered as the most famous and popular racing circuit. A very interesting fact about this race is that it is one of very few races that begin late at night and continues to the early hours of morning. The unique timing can be considered to be related to the famous midnight ride by Paul Revere and this adds to the fascination of this event.

Brumos Porsche 250 was held, for the first time, in 1967. When it began, it was part of SCCA (Sports Club of America) Trans-Am for two years. After 1968, it became a part of NASCAR Grand American tour till 1972. From 1973 to 1983, it was a part of IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) GT. During the year 1984, SCCA Trans-Am managed it, again. Afterwards, it was declared as a motorcycle race for a period of two years, by the end of which Brumos Porche 250 was suspended.

In 2000, Brumos Porche 250 appeared on the racing calendar one more time as a part of Grand Am series. At present, it is a part of Rolex Sports Car Series. Porsche sponsors it. It is usually held in later months of the year, such as October. This race has great tradition and is quite enjoyable, and attracts race lovers allover from United States of America.
