Daytona Supercross : A Brief History

The Daytona Supercross is a motorcycle race organized by Honda. The race has being given its much deserved publicity when the schedule for the Daytona 200 race Week was altered to accommodate the Daytona Supercross. The Supercross event will be held on the 15th of March in 2008. The 63rd Daytona 200 which will be hosted by the Arai motorcycle classic will be held at the Speedway on 6th of March.

The Daytona Supercross would be sponsored by Honda and held in the tri oval grass. The Daytona 200 has always been held at the Daytona International Speedways. The Supercross is the common name for any cycle racing event which has specialized off roads for high performance. The motorcycles are made to move on the artificially made tracks of dirt. The tracks consist of obstacles and steel jumps also. There are many professional Supercross races which are held at different baseball and football stadiums exclusively.

The Daytona is a standard Supercross event but lack of publicity did not let it go further. The change of schedules of the other Daytona races to highlight this race may bring about changes for the sponsors, fans and also for the participants. The Daytona 500 has been the show stealer of most the races held by this group. The Supercross Daytona is eagerly awaited by some of its regular fans and the new arrangement might mean new fans that are not yet quite familiar with the race that Honda is trying to bring to every ones notice.
