Georgia Force Background Information
Georgia Force is based in Duluth, Georgia and they are a football league team. They currently play for the National Conference in the Southern Division. Georgia Force first started off in 1997 as the Nashville Kats team; they played in the former Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville and were coached for two years by Eddie Khayat. In their First year they were awarded league of the year and were active in every season. In 2001, business man Virgil Williams bought over the franchise for $10 million and relocated the team to Atlanta. This was sequel to failure of the owners to agree on a favourable lease agreement with the tenant and manager of the arena. The team started of in Atlanta playing in the Phillips Arena later moved to Duluth and played in the Gwinnet Arena during the 2003 and 2004 seasons.
A competition was held to select a new name for the team and Anthony R. Ward won with the game, picking the name Georgia Force. Williams was owner of the team for three years and under his tenure the team made the playoffs once. Williams sold it to Arthur Blank in September 2004 who was owner of Atlanta falcons at that time. In 2005 it was announced that the franchise was to return to Phillips Arena for the upcoming 2005 season based on fan's requests. 2005 has been the most successful year in the history of Georgia Force with the conference's best record of an 11-5 win and invincible home record of 8-0.
In 2007 however, the Georgia Force returned to Gwinnet Center and signed a 10 year lease, early 2008. Georgia Force has had four coaches from 2002 till date. The current coach is Doug Plank. Georgia's force current roaster comprises of three quarter backs, four offensive lines men, three running backs, six wide receivers, six defensive lines men, four line backers and six defensive backers.
