About Kelly Pavlik

Kelly Robert Pavlik was born on the 4th of April 1982in Youngstown, Ohio and grew up in the traditional neighborhood of Lansingville to be a professional American boxer holding the WBC and unified WBO middleweight champion titles. His world record stands at 32-0-0 with 29 victories coming by knock out. Kelly Pavlik grew up in a Slovak American family graduated from Lowellville High School and Mahoning County Vocational school and has been trained by Jack Loew throughout his career. As an amateur, Kelly won the 1999 US National championships for ‘under 19' category, the National Jr Golden Gloves Amateur Championship in 1998 and the 1998 National Jr PAL amateur championship.

On the 7th of July 2006, Pavlik won with former WBO Junior middleweight champion Bronco Mc Kart by the sixth round to win the NABF middleweight title. Pavlik then won with Lenord Pierre on November 2nd 2006 at Chevrolet Centre in his hometown. On the 27th of January 2007 Pavlik won over Jose Luis Zertuche in the 2nd defense of the NABF heavy weight title. His victory with Edison Miranda on May 19 2007 established him as the No. 1 middleweight contender.

In New Jersey, Atlantic City, Pavlik won Jermain Taylor on September 29th 2007. Though Taylor's trainer felt it would be a easy fight for him, it actually nearly happened as Pavlik was thrown around the ring for most of the second round. But he recouped later and managed to push Taylor to a corner and by the sixth round Taylor suffered an uppercut and Pavlik was declared winner. By this victory, Kelly Pavlik was not only the WBC and WBO middle weight champion but also won the ring magazine middleweight title. Kelly Pavlik is undoubtedly a middleweight champion and within a couple of years has established himself comprehensively as a force to be reckoned with.
