The returning Barclays Premier League champion, Manchester City FC, will be heading stateside this spring for a set of friendlies with league opponent, Chelsea FC. There’s a tight race between the two in the Barclays Premier League this year, and it’s the first time that City has been back to the U.S. since its preseason tour in 2011, so both matches are guaranteed to be well-attended by fans bleeding blue.
The two non-league friendlies are set to take place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Mo., on May 23, and then again two days later at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, N.Y., on May 25. The appearance in St. Louis will mark the debut of international soccer at Busch Stadium, and the New York match will be just the third-ever soccer event hosted by Yankee Stadium. The demand has been high, so be sure to secure your spot early with Manchester City tickets from the Vivid Seats marketplace.
Although City currently holds the Barclays Premier League title, Chelsea took home the prestigious Champions League trophy last year. City has gone 3-0-1 against Chelsea this season, with City capturing the most recent 2-1 win on April 14. Anchored by Spain’s David Silva in the center midfield, the Manchester City roster has the ability to score with offensive firepower from Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero. On the opposing side, they’ll be facing the likes of England’s Frank Lampard and Spain’s Juan Mata and Fernando Torres, all who have topped the scoring charts for Chelsea this season.
