Monster Jam is a monster truck event put on by Live Nation throughout the year across the United States. From January to March the USHRA holds Monster Jam Competitions leading up to the Monster Jam World Finals in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Monster Jam World Finals usually takes place at the end of March. During these busy winter months Live Nation holds Monster jam events in multiple cities, sometimes having upwards of 10 shows in different areas over the course of one weekend. The bigger shows usually have around 16 trucks present, while the smaller shows often have between 4 and 8.

Over the years Monster Jam has become very popular. In 2004 the USHRA reported attendance of over 2.5 million people. Due to the popularity of Monster Jam, the list of competing trucks is longer than any other promoter in the genre. The most popular trucks are often displayed on the Monster Jam television show.

There are a few different types of trucks in the competition. Some trucks are owned by Live Nation, while others are owned by private owners or sponsored by larger companies. Some of the more popular trucks involved in Monster Jam are Gravedigger, Madusa, and Gunslinger. There has been a bit of controversy regarding events being fixed so that trucks owned by Live Nation are victorious more than others. To this day there has been no evidence to validate this information.

Inside Monster Jam was a television show that showcased various half hour clips of several different Monster Jam events across the nation. After only one year the show was cancelled only to be brought back for a brief period in 2002. A season was shot for 2003 but unfortunately the cancellation of the TNN network that aired the program caused the season to never be seen.
