National Finals Rodeo is the premier rodeo event that is held in the United States. It was founded in 1958. It is conducted by Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. The official sponsor of the event is Wrangler Jeans. The tournament is differently referred to as "super bowl of rodeo", "world series of rodeo" and "national finals". This is a widely popular sport and has many practitioners.
This tournament is held every year in the first week of December. The tournament is generally held at the Thomas & Mack center at the campus of the University of Nevada. The seven events in the rodeo are: Team roping, Saddle Bronc riding, Bull riding, Bareback Bronic riding, Steer wrestling and Calf roping. The top 15 money winners in every event contend for the world title. The main center for the event was Dallas since 1959. In 1961 it was Los Angeles that played host to the event. Since then many cities have been hosting the games.
In 2005 it was declared that NFR would be in Las Vegas till 2014. In 2006 Trevor Brazile won his fifth world title and grossed $329,924. In 2007 Trevor Brazile was the first PRCA's won the crown fro the third time for his brilliant performance in the NFR. Brazile garnered $ 425, 115 from the events. In 2007 the song "cowboy town" sung by Brooks & Dunn was declared the official song of the NFR o the next couple of years. This will also feature in the promotional events of the NFR's 50th anniversary.
