2013 Showtime Championship Boxing Card Features Alvarez vs. Trout

There’s hardly a finer fighter’s showcase than Showtime Championship Boxing, and on April 20, fans will be treated to a 154-pound unification bout between WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KOs) and WBA junior middleweight champion Austin “No Doubt” Trout (41-0-1, 30 KOs) at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The 22-year-old Alvarez hails out of Guadalajara, Mexico, and he’s set to defend his title for the sixth time, while Trout is a 27-year-old southpaw from Las Cruces, N.M., and is defending his title for the fifth time.

Many fans are expecting this bout to feature a bit of extra edge, as Alvarez has loads of added motivation to smother Trout. Back in 2011, Trout was able to claim the vacant WBA World Light Middleweight title by thrashing Saul’s older brother, Rigoberto Alvarez, via unanimous decision, in the brothers’ hometown of Guadalajara. With their impressive records, both fighters are sure to put on a great show, and fans that purchase Showtime Championship Boxing tickets are also in store for a fantastic undercard. Two undefeated, junior middleweight fighters, Omar Figueroa (20-0-1, 16 KO’s) and Abner Cotto (16-0, 7 KO’s), will be throwing haymakers in hopes of climbing towards a championship of their own.
