Back in December 2007, a ticket to the FedEx Tennis Shoot Out was priced at $28.50, then $48.50, with the last ticket category set at $88.50. As far as ticket prices for tennis tourneys are concerned, those seem to be at par with other ticket prices. Two well-known names in world Tennis (the great Pete Sampras and Big 10 Conference champ Todd Martin) squared off in the FedEx Tennis Shoot Out that December.
If you are not really aiming to see just the major players like Sampras and Martin at the FedEx Tennis Shoot Out, then you will be pleased to know there are other player categories too – which are namely the local juniors level, the wheelchair athletes level, and the college tennis level.
The participation of Pete Sampras in the 2007 FedEx Tennis Shoot Out may help drive up ticket sales for future FedEx Tennis Shoot Out matches because Sampras happens to be a Grand Slam record holder (having won a Grand Slam a very impressive fourteen times in his career.) This brings some fans to claim that Sampras is the best player that men’s tennis has ever seen. And a ticket to a Pete Sampras match is always an event to remember for any tennis fan.
Not only was Sampras able to win all those Grand Slam titles, but he also triumphed at Wimbledon seven times. From 1993 up to 1998, Sampras was officially ranked the top player in the world for those six straight years. After he succeeded in beating another top men’s tennis player – Andre Agassi – in the 2002 US Open, Sampras retired from formal ATP tennis competition.
You should probably expect ticket prices for 2008 to be higher than 2007 levels because ticket prices for the 2006 competition stood at $26.50, then $45.50, and finally at $75.50. Sampras was also part of the list of players in the 2006 FedEx Tennis Shoot Out competition. Apparently, Sampras is still open to participating in exhibition matches even though he is no longer a contender for formal men’s tennis competitions anymore.
