When play begins at the 2013 edition of the annual Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati, world No. 1 Novak Djokovic will be vying for one rather unique and incredibly impressive feat. Should he claim victory at the tournament, Djokovic will become the first athlete to have won all nine ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events over the course of his young and illustrious career. Set to go down Aug. 10-18, the Lindner Family Tennis Center will once again serve as the host site, and just may provide fans with a hefty slice of tennis history. Check out the schedule above for our complete stock of Western and Southern Open tickets on sale now.
Despite his reign in the rankings, the road to victory will not be easy for Djokovic, as the playing field will be stacked with more than a few worthy opponents, including past champions like Roger Federer and Andy Murray, who have combined to win the last six Western and Southern Opens. The tournament serves as somewhat of a primer for the year’s final Grand Slam event, the U.S. Open, which will feature a similar cast of characters as the tennis season begins to wind down.
