The Wedding Singer Tickets

Here is a fresh romantically orientated musical comedy entitled the Wedding Singer. It is the latest musical to enter the touring circuit. It is based upon the Adam Sandler film of the same name. The production first opened on Broadway at the end of April of 2006 at the Al Hirschefeld Theater.

Although the Broadway musical version generally follows a similar storyline as found in the film version from 1998, the characters as well as portions of the plot element has indeed been slightly altered. As an example the elderly lady for which Robbie Hart had been teaching piano lessons to has been transformed into the role of his own grandmother in the musical version. Another variation from the original film involved Robbie's best friend named Sammy, who in the musical he is a member of Robbie’s musical band however in the film he is a portrayed as a limousine chauffeur. Sammie’s character was also modified, in that they wanted to make his personality more of a "white trash" style as compared to the film version. When Robbie visit the big city to seek out some sort of employment the play depicts him approaching Julia's fiancé Glen rather than the bank as shown in the film.

The time frame setting for which the play takes place is 1985 and “wanna be” rock-star Robbie Hart represents New Jersey's all time favorite musician for weddings. He is a very popular wedding singer in that he is the life of the party until life would have it, his very own fiancée decides to leave him standing at the altar. Nursing a broken heart he decides that he will make every wedding he performs at as disastrous as his own was.

Now we come across Julia who works as a waitress and through her thoughtfulness and acts of kindness wins Robbie’s undying affection. The problem that Robbie has discovered is that Julie is scheduled to become married to a very well to do Wall Street dealer and unless Robbie somehow manages to devise a unique way of stopping the wedding, then he will lose his new found love forever.

For anyone who admires the rock music that abound in the 80;s this is one musical you really don’t want to miss seeing. The Wedding Singer is an excursion into our past and into a time when the bob was the hairstyle of the day, a time when greed was considered acceptable, a time where the boy’s collars were turned up, and a wedding singer was considered the coolest cat in town.
