A Raisin in the Sun was originally a 1959 play based on Lorraine Hansberrys experience in the
lower-end neighborhood of Chicago. It was the very first play on Broadway to be written by a black
woman and directed by a black man. Raisin in the Sun tickets are available again, and this time
starring hip hop mogul Sean P. Diddy Combs. Sean Combs made his theater debut on March 30, 2004
for 15 weeks on Broadway at the Royale theater. The new production brought a wide array of audience
members and become the second highest grossing Broadway play in history. more
Raisin in the Sun is about a working-class family where every member dreams of bigger and better
things then the measly apartment they currently reside at. They play centers on proving that the
black satisfaction of the 50s was a myth. The audience really gets a sense of how hard it is to
live the way this family does as the stage manages to squeeze five people into a one room
apartment.
Originally Raisin in the Sun hired on such influential actors as Sidney Poitier, Ruby Dee, Roy
Glenn and Claudia McNeil in 1960. These actors later went on to make a movie out of this powerful
Broadway play. Although Raisin in the Sun is no longer on the theatre stage, it has made so many
comebacks that its never certain that Raisin in the Sun tickets wont be available again. less
