Garson Kanin directed and wrote the play, Born Yesterday. The play first debuted in 1946 at the Lyceum Theater. It starred Judy Holliday as Billie Dawm, Pual Douglas at Brock, and Gary Merrill as Verrall. The play opened to outstanding reviews. After two years, the play moved to the bigger Henry Miller Theater where it finished it’s run in 1950. The play had a total of 1, 642 performances. It was made into a 1950 film starring Judy Holliday as Billie Dawn. In 1993, the film was remade by director Luis Mandoki and starred Melanie Griffith.
