About Cirque Zumanity

Guy Laliberté is an accordionist, stilt-walker and fire-eater. He also founded Quebec's first internationally renowned circus with the support of a small group of accomplices- the street performers from the Fête foraine de Baie-Saint-Paul and he thus created Cirque du Soleil in 1984. He has led the creative team through every show and contributed to reinventing the traditional notion of “circus” to a level of the great artistic achievement. Cirque du Soleil has since gone international with activities on five continents. In 1997, he even received the highest honor possible, the Ordre National du Québec. To add to growing lists of awards and achievements, in 2004, he received the Order of Canada, the highest distinction in the country, from the Governor General of Canada. That same year, he was recognized by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. In 2007, Guy Laliberté received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for Quebec, Canada and international. With the right man for the job in place, Guy continues to lead and the Cirque du Soleil continues to thrive.
