The Grease Lighting is back!

Grease is a famous musical written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The name of the show was taken from the working-class youth subculture that appeared in the 50’s in the U.S. The romance between high schoolers Sandy Dumbrowski and Danny Zuko is in the centre of the musical that was set in fictional Rydell High in Chicago in 1959. The work of Jacobs and Casey tackles a great range of social issues including gang violence and teenage pregnancy. The authors pay much attention to such themes as teenage rebellion, friendship and love. Sexual exploration during youth and conflict of classes are worthy of notice, as well.

Actually, this musical managed to become one of the longest-running Broadway shows in history. It took a satirical look at teenage manners, morals, music and dress at the beginning of the rock and roll era. The show gave birth to several musical hits including "Greased Lightning," "Summer Nights," and "Beauty School Dropout." Olivia Newton John and John Travolta starred in the film version that appeared in 1978.

The cast of the musical that is directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall headed into the recording studio on the 16th of August. Laura Osnes, Max Crumm and other actors of the Grease musical recorded the music for the show at Manhattan Legacy Studios. The CD is expected to be released on the 2nd of October on the Masterworks Broadway label.
