About Little Shop of Horrors
If you are looking for a hilarious comedic musical, then the Little Shop of Horrors is a perfect
match. This musical was originally created from a song by Alan Menken who also wrote songs for some
of Disneys Classic movies, such as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast. The
Little Shop of Horrors was opened off-Broadway in 1982 at the Orpheum Theatre. The music, which is
composed by Menken, includes up-beat mo-town, rock and roll, and even an little doo-wop to add an
interesting flavor to the sound of this production.

The Little Shop of Horrors is about a young orphan with few friends who gets a new job in an old
flower shop on Skid Row. This uproarious theatre production tells the typical tale of the nerdy boy
falling for the beautiful assistant named Audrey. Except in this play the main character befriends
a talking, human eating plant named Audrey II. The play continues with a twisted plot of the
talking plant coercing the boy, Seymour, to complete dangerous and deadly tasks in the plants
effort to take over the world.
The Venus fly trap, Audrey II, was created by a Sesame Street muppeteer which gave this talking,
blood eating plant better high tech ability then ever before. The little shop of horrors recently
added the Dirty Pop star of boy band group NSync, Joey Fatone, to play Seymour in the Little
Shop of Horrors on Broadway. In August 2004, a new US tour started around the same time that the
Broadway production was closing staring Anthony Rapp as Seymour. This tour ended in Columbus Ohio
in April 2006. So although The Little Shop of Horrors is not currently running, keep on the look
out for theatre tickets for this production, and who knows the next star that will take on the
nerdy role of Seymour.
