About the Pageant of Masters
The Festival of the Arts first premiered in 1932 in Laguna Beach, California. It was, a festival to celebrate the arts of course. At the festival, Lolita Perine convinced residents to dress in the corresponding costume while she proceeded to recreate works of art with her live models behind a frame. The following year, the idea was recreated once again. In 1934, Roy Ropp, a developer, critiqued the board of the pageant stating bluntly that the “Spirit of the Masters” was a poorly put on production.
more In response, the board put him in charge and he set about to renaming and organizing the production into a high quality one through 1941. The whole pageant was put on pause for the world to duke it out for the second time and when the war was over Roy Robbs only came back to direct the pageant once in 1950 due to his fiery temper with the board. But alas, the pageant still continues today. The production has evolved into an elaborate one with makeup, costumes, lightning, a narrator, and an orchestra to accompany the “tableaux vivant”. About 250,000 people attend each year to watch the 90- minute presentation. Vivid Seats offers cheap Pageant Of Masters tickets for you.
