Lion King Background Information

Based on the Disney movie, The Lion King has been wowing audiences from its start in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1997 to Broadway in New York and eventual travel to places all over the world such as London, Tokyo, Sydney, Paris, and current show in Taipei. The production features a musical score by Elton John as well as other songs written for the musical itself. The production has won several awards including eight Drama Desk Awards and six Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Scenic Design, Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Choreography, and Best Direction.
