Lincoln Financial Field replaced the famous Veterans Stadium and is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lincoln Financial Field is home to the Philadelphia Eagles. Its construction began in 2001 and was completed in 2003. The stadium has a grass surface and a seating capacity of 68,532. Although the amount of seats available does not significantly differ from the capacity of the older Veterans Stadium, there are considerably more handicap accessible seats. Not only that, but Lincoln Financial Field is known for its modern lounges, suites and services.
Although this stadium is home to the Philadelphia Eagles and also used by the NCAA team Temple Owls, the first event held here was an out of season soccer match between the two major European teams from Manchester and Barcelona. In fact many soccer games are hosted at Lincoln Financial Field. Many other notable events which have taken place here and which are not even related to major league or college football. Major events include three concerts performed by Bruce Springsteen, the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship in both 2005 and 2006, FIFA Women’s World Cup of soccer and the Army-Navy football match.
