Raymond James Stadium Information
Raymond James Stadium, known as Tampa Community Stadium up until 1998, started construction in 1996 and was the replacement of the old Houlihan Stadium. It is located in Tampa, Florida and is the official home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and University of South Florida Bulls. It has a regular seat capacity of 65,800 which can be increased if necessary up to 75,000.
From 1999 until 2001 it was also home to The Tampa Bay Mutiny of the MLS. This is a very modern and well designed stadium that has two 92' wide screens so that fans can better see what is happening on the field and the so-called Buccaneer Cove is made to look like a fishing village. There are the food stands and restrooms as well. The natural grass used on the field is a favorite of professional football players.
Many major sporting events have already been hosted by Raymond James Stadium. Since 1999 the annual Outback Bowl of the NCAA is held here, as well as the ACC Championship of 2008 – 2009. Raymond James Stadium was also chosen to be the location of the Super Bowl XLIII, which is planned to take place in February 2009.
