University of Phoenix Stadium is located in Glendale, Arizona. It was designed for multiple purposes, however, it is most associated and used as a home stadium for the Arizona Cardinals. It is a new stadium that only opened in August, 2006. There is a total seat capacity of 63,400, but that can be increased to 73, 700 in case of a major event through portable seats.
It is considered to be one of the most impressive sports facilities in the world and the top in the USA. This is mostly because of its construction which includes a retractable roof made of fabric that can open in around twelve minutes, a field that can be rolled-in with turf or natural grass, seats that offer clear views of the field and the many luxury suites available. One noticeable design feature of this desert stadium is that the entire thing was made to resemble the Arizona barrel cactus.
The largest event held at University of Phoenix Stadium was the Super Bowl of 2008. The other major football event at this stadium is the annual Fiesta Bowl. There are many plans for non-football events and the most well-known and advertised upcoming event is the WrestleMania, to be held in 2010.
