Call him what you like: Mankind, Dude Love, or Cactus Jack. Either way, three-time WWE Champion Mick Foley is about to add another name for you to decide on come April 6th at Madison Square Garden: WWE Hall of Famer. According to the New York Post, the hardcore wrestling superstar is this year’s first announced inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame, and it will be officially announced during the 20th anniversary of Raw on Monday night. His sensational career kicked off back in 1986, and fans were immediately drawn to him given that he certainly didn’t fit the typical wrestler stereotype. He looked a lot more like the people watching at home on television than the guys in the squared circle, but that didn’t stop him from achieving one of the most impressive careers of any athlete in the WWE.
The crowd favorite is most known for his fearless antics and extreme mentality to risk life and limb for the shows. One of his most memorable performances came in 1998’s King of the Ring when he plunged into a Hell in a Cell match against the Undertaker. The Undertaker launched him from the top of the cage and through an announcers table, and then he was chokedslammed through the cage, resulting in him going unconscious during the match. It was an extraordinary showing that Pro Wrestling Illustrated named 1998’s Match of the Year. More inductees are expected to trickle through soon, and don't forget to grab Wrestlemania 29 tickets, as the Hall induction ceremony will take place the day before. WWE Hall of Fame tickets go on sale Saturday January 12th, so get yours to see this legend live.
