AC/DC Tour 2015 Confirmed for North American Stadiums

February 11, 2015 by Alyssa

Tour Announcement

On Feb.11, following an explosive GRAMMYs performance, AC/DC finally confirmed North American dates for its 2015 Rock or Bust World Tour. The legendary Australian rock outfit won’t be back in the U.S. until late this summer, but the wait will be well worth it, as at least 13 massive concerts are lined up at some of North America’s most beloved stadiums for the upcoming trek.

The AC/DC tour 2015 will officially launch from Europe this spring, with the first U.S. date scheduled for Aug. 22 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The initial announcement includes five additional U.S. shows, as well as seven north of the border in Canada. Among the most notable U.S. stops is Chicago, which will host AC/DC at Wrigley Field for the first time ever on Sept. 15. The band joins previously confirmed acts Billy Joel and Foo Fighters on the historic venue’s 2015 concert schedule. Find the full list of upcoming AC/DC tour dates at the bottom of this page.

In addition to founding member Angus Young, longtime bassist Cliff Williams and vocalist Brian Johnson will appear during the tour. Founding guitarist Malcolm Young will be replaced by his nephew Stevie on the road, and former drummer Chris Slade is also expected to join the trek in place of Phil Rudd.

The year 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of AC/DC’s first studio album, “High Voltage.” The record was initially only released in the band’s native Australia in 1975 before receiving an international release a year later. The AC/DC tour will in part reflect on this four-decade legacy, but it also celebrates the new chapter of the band’s career. The venture takes its name from AC/DC’s most recent album, 2014’s “Rock or Bust,” which was a chart-topping hit in more than 10 countries last fall.

A month before AC/DC plays its first international tour date in the Netherlands, the band is slated to appear at California’s Coachella Music Festival as the Friday night headliner during both weekends (April 10-12 and 17-19). The other two co-headliners for the festival are Jack White and Drake, while supporting acts on the Friday lineup include Interpol, Steely Dan, Alabama Shakes, and fellow Australian rock group Tame Impala.
